Teen & Tween Fashions, Trends & Styles

Teenagers often use hairstyles, jewelry, and trendy, funky clothing to set themselves apart from the crowd -- and at the same time, fit in. In a teen's world, fashion plays an important part in self-esteem and identity.

Styles are always changing and as and teens grow, they find out just how far they are willing to go to make their mark on the world. Some hairstyles and clothing trends that were once considered taboo are now acceptable as teens discover who they are and what they want to represent. If you're a teen, you can discover what's popular in teen fashions and accessories for the new fall and winter season right here!

New Fashion Trends for Fall & Winter, 2006 - 2007

Winter cools things off with some exciting new styles for the 2006 season. With rising waistlines, casual styles include jeans that are patched, or have carefully placed holes. Faded, vintage jeans are a nice alternative and add some classic style. Deliver your message with a baby-tee featuring one of your favorite characters or snarky phrase. Consider a now-so-trendy retro rock band logo on your t-shirt or jacket.

It's a jungle out there! Camouflage shirts, skirts, shorts, and cargo pants wear well as a single piece but not mixed with like patterns. In other words, if you wear a camouflage shirt, opt for denim or khaki bottoms. A basic army green tee is a good match for camouflage pants. Don't overdo it or you'll look like an official member of the military. Not so hot if you're not!

A layered tee shirt combined with a classic plaid miniskirt or skort is a perfect back-to-school combo. Wear a hooded sweatshirt or preppy zip-up hoodie and faded jeans for a comfortable, casual style. Is it too warm in school? You can skip the jacket and opt for a funky vest instead.

Layering offers versatility for constantly changing temperatures, common for fall weather. Keep it simple. A combination of clothing allows you to adjust your comfort factor or change from work to play. A neutral colored shrug or cropped vest looks incredible over a ribbed tank or long-sleeved tee.

Fall is full of flash. Whether it's glitter or sequins, dresses or purses, shiny fabrics and add-ons are eye-catching fun. Mix eclectic tops with solid bottoms for a well put-together look. A camisole laced with sequins can be paired with everyday jeans for casual or a skirt for more formal occasions.

Teen Accessory and Jewelry

What teenager doesn't love accessories and jewelry? If you're on a limited budget, shop for basic gold and silver jewelry that will go with just about anything. Silver is still stylish but gold is gaining in popularity quickly.

Jeweled pins, earrings and oversized beaded necklaces add some color to your wardrobe and birthstones add individuality. Monogram necklaces and earrings in plain silver are great for casual while jewel-studded monograms make the perfect accessories for a dressed-up look. Dark, chunky jewelry adds more gothic to a primarily black outfit.

Wide, studded belts worn with jeans makes a fashion statement and will complete any style. The models aren't wearing just leather. Cloth, chains and scarves make excellent belts and add some pizzazz. Many jeans and skirts often come with belts, so it's a good idea to mix-n-match for the perfect combination.

Handbags come in wild patterns that grab attention. Faux fur and crocodile are all the rave whilst plain monogram purses are suitable for church, a wedding, or just for everyday.

Junior's shoes include glitz and glitter. Rich textures includes sweater material, faux fur, sequins and beads -- a little bit of everything.

Cuff It!
An alternative to capri pants are jeans with three to five inch cuffs. Very stylish and a nice change from the too-long trend of low rise hipsters.

Hot! Hot! Hot!
Gold accessories with layering, pirates, vintage jewelry, skulls and crossbones, tattoo art that looks authentic.
