Cover Girl Continuous Color 3-in-1 Nail Polish - Review

Cover Girl's new "Continuous Color 3-in-1 Nail Polish" claims to give you a base coat, nail polish, and top coat -- all in one bottle. What a time-saver this would be if it stays on longer than most nail colors and reduces maintenance.

From pastel shades to brilliant colors, they offer a large selection to choose from. I opted to try "sand dollar" and "preppy pink" for everyday use and "really red" for a more daring night out in the city.

The bottles are round, triangular shaped, and smaller than most nail polish bottles. Less quantity and a cheaper price attracted me because I like to change colors often -- and use them up before they go bad. At just $2.37 at Wal-mart, I can afford to buy every color that catches my eye.

Continuous Color is about the same consistency of most nail polish and goes on quite smoothly. I thought is dried quickly and left a great shine on my fingernails. To get the shade shown on the bottle, two coats are necessary. One application will give you a lighter shade with less staying power. I first tried just one application and it didn't stay on any longer than ordinary nail polish.

After trying two and three coats on separate occasions, I found that two coats gave the best coverage, staying on my fingernails for about three to four days and toenails about a week before chipping. Three coats was a little too thick and chipped off sooner.

Three to four days without chipping is not remarkable, but it is a little better than my usual results with other brands. I couldn't find anywhere on the bottle where Cover Girl states how long their 3-in-1 Continuous Color nail polish is supposed to last.

On the bottle containing the lighter shade "sand dollar," the instructions are difficult to read because the color of the bottle is light, and the clear label is printed in very small silver text. The other bottles have remedied the problem, however, the text is still very small.

Even though the polish and color wasn't too "continuous" for me without chipping, I still recommend it because of the fantastic colors offered, quick drying time, and extra shine I usually don't get from any single product. At drugstore prices, you don't have to splurge to try out this new nail polish.
