Pantene Pro-V Clarifying Shampoo - Product Review

Shampoos, conditioners and styling products produce a build-up that can result in dull, heavy and flaky hair. Clarifying shampoos contain an acidic ingredient to cut through and remove those residues left behind.

Pantene Pro-V clarifying shampoo is a clear shampoo that comes in a see-through bottle with a flip top cap. While there is a choice of sizes, I thought the smallest bottle was more than enough to sustain me for quite some time. I bought a 13.5 fl oz bottle of shampoo for $2.94 at Wal-Mart.

This clarifying shampoo has a wonderful clean and fresh scent and lathers up easily. With only one lather and rinse cycle, my hair felt squeaky clean. After it dried, I had soft and fluffy hair. It did appear somewhat frizzy, because I use products to reduce frizz and those products got removed -- which was my intent.

I found that using clarifying shampoo about every two weeks does the trick. Since the shampoo also has a tendency to remove any natural oil, using it more frequently will probably dry out your hair -- depending on how often you wash it. I always follow-up a shampoo with a conditioner since clarifying shampoos contain no conditioning agents.

If you process your hair with hair color, perms, or other chemical treatments, use the clarifying shampoo before you proceed. Your treatment will probably be more affective without the access build-up left behind by styling products and your hair will absorb the chemicals better.

Pantene Pro-V clarifying shampoo worked good for me and I will keep using it to reduce the residue caused by the hair spray and gel I use on a regular basis. I also use it to remove access oil and make-up from my make-up brushes and it leaves them clean and shiny.

Hair Tip
If your hair is dry, it's probably not necessary to lather and rinse your hair more than once while shampooing. Clarifying shampoos are harsher on your hair, so follow up with conditioner.
